Amy and J.R. KISS
Amy was in this morning. I ordered a sample book from KISS with their wedding images. She loved it and gave it a home! I forgot to shoot it, arg! I have one more sample left, but that is sure to leave when Nicole sees it. If you want to see a KISS in person let me know! I am trying to keep the samples in stock, but they fly out of here so fast…

My KISS sample arrived today and I am THRILLED with it!

First impressions – it arrived in a brown box labeled “Fragile”. I opened the box to find the album wrapped in enough bubble wrap to float a sinking boat. After getting through about 5 layers of bubble wrap, I got to some other thin packaging material that was wrapped around the book. Be careful removing this stuff if you’re using sissors or a knife – it would be easy to cut through into the leather.

The leather is fantastic! It reminds me of the leather used in high end pocket books – very sturdy, but soft and luxurious. It has a very fine pebbled texture.

The printing is off the charts – I had high expectations and they were blown out of the water! The printing is perfectly color balanced and contrasted – the prints look exactly like what I see on my screen! The finish is exactly what I wanted – it’s not fiberous like a VA book – it has a slight sheen to it, probably a little less than a normal lustre print.

The gutter is non-existant. Just a small fold line that doesn’t interupt the flow of the picture in anyway.

No ordering prints, waiting for them to come, inspecting, repackaging, shipping. I just designed the album and dropped the folder into their upload page. Easy as can be! And add to it that the printing is superb, and I’m a happy happy camper.

I’m just so happy that I’ve finally found my perfect album company – these guys have been great with CS too!

Just uploaded a new front page. I realized that our old one was, well, complicated and cluttered. So… OUT SHE GOES! Even though the complexity was being used to make a point, it didn’t feel right when we’re camping out on simplicity.

Jenny Driscoll is one of our favorite customers. She was one of the first 2 people to order, and she was VERY VERY VERY patient with us while we worked out some kinks. Here’s her post and review on OSP where she talks about her album…

Here’s the text:

I got my first KISS album a few weeks ago and it is HOT. The red cover is my favorite for sure. This week my second arrived with the distressed brown cover, luscious! I have to say my fav thing about these albums compared to the other companies I order from is their soft covers. The leathers are real, not bonded.

When I ordered it was so “easy” I felt like I needed to order more. Remember when cable first came out and you were no longer on dial-up? You had to spend TWICE as much time on the computer getting your ‘FIX” since you were so used to waiting for the little hour glass to turn as pages loaded. Then cable comes along and pretty much gets the job done in 1/4 of the time…

That is what it felt like ordering. Too easy! Sometimes I put off ordering things cause it is such a pain to do. This was drag, drop, then get flirted with and bam, album in a couple of weeks.

Great experience. I especially love that now there is a new spray coat that goes on nice and smooth. I can’t wait to see what new things come along with this company.
